H-Beam

At nearly 20 feet in length, LRM’s 190-pound structural H-beam is officially recognized as one of the world’s largest unitary thermoplastic composite parts, earning LRM the 2006 Building & Construction Award from the Alliance of Plastics Processors (APP) and the Society of the Plastics Industries (SPI). It was a key structural element of LRM’s innovative thermoplastic composite shelter prototypes for the US Air Force.

The composite shelter prototypes were produced with H-beam structural support and composite side, floor, and roof panels using LRM’s TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming™ technology. The materials for these structural parts are polypropylene reinforced with half-inch glass fiber with an insert-molded steel tube.

Pallets

Taking advantage of the design capability extension made possible by TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming™ technology, LRM has produced many different designs of plastic pallets using a wide variety of materials ranging from recycled diapers to polypropylene and high density polyethylene. Rackable, stackable, and nesting pallets have been made incorporating structural features to improve strength and reduce weight.

Fuel Cell Ring

LRM manufactured this large fuel cell ring using TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming™ technology. It measures 41 inches in diameter and was produced using UDEL polyether sulphone.

The unique capability of TPF ThermoPlastic Flowforming™ technology to mold intricate detail into a part allowed this ring to be molded in one step without finishing. The ring has fine fuel cell input and exhaust channels molded into the structure.
